Bryan and Morgan took a plane up to Utah for EFY at BYU this summer. We came up to meet them the Saturday they finished, and then spent the week there in Utah visiting with family. It was strange driving up without Bryan and Morgan. We are so used to having a carload of kids when we leave on vacations. But it was also kind of nice to have that one-on-one time with Colton and Kyle. The first night of the drive, we stopped at this amazing bridge right at sunset. … [Read more...]
UTAH TRIP – day five (INDEPENDENCE DAY)
We love going to see Stadium of Fire at the BYU Stadium. It's always an amazing show. This year was no different. The performer was the Beach Boys! I had been playing Beach Boy songs for my kids for several weeks to get them excited. Of course they talked about how these guys were SO OLD! :) When we got there it was like one big dance party. EVERYONE in the audience was singing EVERY SINGLE SONG. So fun! There was the traditional flyover by the … [Read more...]
Utah Vacation July 2011 – DAYS FOUR THRU EIGHT
Tuesday we went to Lagoon Amusement Park with my cousin Shelly and her kids. I love my cousin Shelly and have such a great time with her family. We had a blast! But I also learned that the older I get, the more nauseous I become on rides...and I'm not even talking about the twisty ones! I have always LOVED scary roller coaster rides, but now I'm finding my stomach can't handle them. I do it anyway, but I always end up regretting it. My kids absolutely loved it though. … [Read more...]
Utah Vacation July 2011 – DAY THREE
Monday was July 4th. We started out meeting up with some of our good friends from our ward in Phoenix - the Harris family! They were also in Utah to celebrate July 4th. We met up with them at the parade in Provo. Now THAT is a parade. It has a small town feel to it and was a whole lot of fun (and that is coming from someone who isn't super excited about parades normally). After the parade we met up with my cousin Shelly and her cute family for lunch. Shelly … [Read more...]
Utah Vacation July 2011 – DAY TWO
Sunday was an absolutely amazing day. We started the day by going to the LDS Conference Center building in Salt Lake City to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir do "Music and the Spoken Word". They perform Sunday mornings almost every week and it gets broadcast around the world. This performance was special though, because it was a patriotic theme in honor of Independence Day. What an amazing feeling our whole family had as we sat on the 8th row, right in front of this … [Read more...]
Utah Vacation July 2011 – DAY ONE
Mark and I both attended Brigham Young University. When we left there for him to attend medical school in Louisville, Kentucky, our oldest child was only a few weeks old. Our vacations during medical school usually were to go and visit our family's who we rarely saw except for once or occasionally twice a year. After four years in Louisville we moved to Houston, Texas for the next seven years for him to complete a residency and fellowship. Again, most vacations were spent … [Read more...]
independence day FAMILY BBQ SWIM PARTY
July 4th fell on a Sunday this year. We went and watched the local fireworks show Sunday night, but didn't feel good about doing our BBQ/Swim Party on a Sunday, so we elected for a July 5th celebration. We invited family and cousins living in the area. Everyone had so much fun! We had loads of yummy food thanks to the many Food Network loving family members I have. We swam and played and talked the night away. I can't wait to do it again next … [Read more...]
