Natural ways to support anxious feelings

When you're stressed with life, whether it's a constant problem, or something you just need help with occasionally, I've found these tips to be incredibly helpful.

Also, these same tips are so helpful if you're dealing with any type of emotional health needs.

I like knowing there's something natural I can turn to that doesn't have the systemic side effects that so many medications do.

But as with anything concerning your health, always keep your doctor in the loop, and never stop any prescribed medications without talking to them first.

My husband is a doctor too (pediatric gastroenterologist), and sometimes gives people the go ahead with using something natural. Other times, he asks them to move forward with the plan he has for them, because the alternative of not doing something immediately is just too risky.

Bottom line - find a doctor who is willing to listen to your concerns and work with you, but also be willing to listen to them and take advantage of the decades of education they've had in being able to help you. Both are important.

If you're looking for help with anxious feelings, these options are some of the best I've found.

Top essential oils for anxious feelings

Lavender:

A lot of dentists these days are diffusing Lavender in their offices because of the proven benefits of Lavender in helping people to relax. In multiple studies, lavender oil lowered anxiety in people who watched anxiety-provoking films, were undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery & visiting the dentist.

Try diffusing a few drops in your diffuser, or putting a drop in your hands then cupping over your nose + mouth & inhaling deeply for 30 seconds.

Vetiver:

This is great for sleep, but also for just calming down. It decreases jitteriness + hypersensitivity & is also useful in panic attacks & shock. Rub a drop on the bottoms of your feet, then rub whatever is left on your hands onto the back of your neck to help ground & reassure.

Copaiba:

This helps support anxious or depressed mood. It promotes cheerfulness, courage, optimism, + soothes fearfulness. It also has a moderately strong sedative effect which can help with insomnia.

Bergamot:

This oil is commonly found in Earl Grey tea & has a floral taste + aroma. It is calming & is often used to support depression by providing energy. But it also has the effect of helping with insomnia by supporting relaxation + reducing agitation.

Adaptiv blend:

This blend is full of oils known for their peaceful, calming scents. It decreases irritability, overthinking, anxiety, & worry. It also helps to calm hyperactivity & helps with focus.

Frankincense:

This precious oil is great for supporting depression + anxiety due to its calming & grounding quality. In meditation it helps to quiet the mind. This quality is also what makes it helpful when dealing with anxiety. Mix with Bergamot & Lavender to deepen the effect.
