MY STORY …

I started using doTERRA oils because I was desperate to help my youngest son {in elementary school at the time} with his ADHD. My husband is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital & I have a background in Nursing, but we’d tried everything to help him & were still coming up short.

I struggled getting him out the door for school in the morning & getting him to do homework in the evening. I was contacted by his teachers about missed assignments & his being a distraction to other kids. They loved him & worked closely with me to try & help. He struggled listening & following directions at soccer practice. He struggled with impulse control.

He was a pleaser & wanted so badly to do the right thing, but just didn’t have the control to sit still & focus. He couldn’t do the things he WANTED so badly to do. He wanted to be obedient. He was a sweet, big-hearted, compassionate, fun-loving kid … & I loved his energy & didn’t want to change that. But he needed help. It was affecting his ability to have friends. He would cry crocodile tears & so would I.

My mama heart was breaking for him.

After years of working with him, changing his diet, getting rid of processed food, getting rid of toxins in the home, working with his Pediatrician … eventually we resorted to medication.

And the medication was a roller coaster ride. It helped. Until it didn’t. About every 3 months we’d have to increase the dose. There were side effects … inability to fall asleep at night, lack of appetite & more.

Being in a medical family, I had always turned my nose up at essential oils. I was only interested in solutions backed by modern medicine. When a friend I trusted taught a doTERRA oil class, she shared with me all the medical backing doTERRA oils had. She shared with me the major hospitals all across the United States that were using doTERRA oils … the thousands of medical studies conducted on essential oils {use the search box on https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/).

At that point I talked to my husband about the safety of essential oils. He said they were safer than most medications. He had patients that used them but didn’t know a lot about the specific oils & what they did … other than Peppermint essential oil, which was commonly used during their procedures at the hospital.

I decided to put them to the test. I didn’t tell my son’s teachers that I was trying oils. Before oils they would contact me at least every 2 weeks with a problem. You guys. We started using oils & went 3 MONTHS without any of his 5 teachers at school contacting me even once. Since I hadn’t heard anything I finally decide to reach out to each of them & ask how he was doing. They all responded with a resounding, “Great!”

That was it for me. I was OVERJOYED to have something that worked for my son. He was happy at school. He was making friends. We could get out the door in the morning without a struggle. He could do his homework. It was a major transformation for us.

From that point on, instead of opening our medicine cabinet when we were needing help with something, I opened my essential oil reference book to look up what oil might be good to start with. Obviously for emergencies we don’t mess with oils. We get to the doctor or hospital. But if we’ve got some time & it’s not serious, we use oils first. Most of the time we get a response even faster than if we’d tried something from the drugstore … & without the myriad of side effects associated with those drugstore options.

From Customer to Building a Business

I didn’t start out looking at doTERRA as a business opportunity. I just wanted to help my son. But when it worked I couldn’t keep it to myself. I knew there were others out there, probably like I was, who didn’t look at essential oils as a valid option backed by modern medicine.

I was telling my family about what had happened - with my son’s ADHD, with my seasonal allergies, with a myriad of other things that we kept having success with. They tried them. They started sharing their successes with other friends & family who needed help.

I started to see the possibilities. I loved that by sharing & helping other people get the natural solutions they needed, within 3 months I was making enough to pay for most of my order each month. I didn’t have to pull from our family budget & could order whatever I wanted. I started swapping out toxic products in our home, for natural ones doTERRA carried that got delivered right to my door.

But here’s what I loved the most.

For 20 years I had been a stay-at-home mom. My dream job. But helping others through sharing oils & other doTERRA products fills a void I didn’t even know I had. I have the privilege of building relationships with other moms … some as my business partners, some as customers, & others who are my mentors in doTERRA. I enjoy creating a business I can hold onto for years to come. I enjoy contributing to our family income & having my kids see me do that. And I can do my job AND be the mom I want to be. I enjoy being part of something bigger … a worldwide movement to use natural solutions where possible … with a worldwide company trusted by the medical community & medical researchers.

I love my job.

I am a learner & researcher at heart. I did what I do best when my mama heart & my prayers pointed me towards looking more deeply at using essential oils for our family. My research put me solidly with this company. There are no others in the arena that can do what doTERRA is doing with the integrity & responsibility with which they do it.

I bought my first kit of doTERRA oils in January 2016.
I very quickly dove in to learning, applying & sharing along the way. I knew this would be the movement that would impact healthcare in a huge way. I taught my first essential oil class about 3 months later to some close friends in my neighborhood.

These friends were already invested in their personal health through exercise & nutrition. They saw the opportunity to take that to the next level with something in complete alignment with maintaining their health in the most natural ways possible.

I saw the ability to create a powerful community - a space people would be excited to be a part of!

Well, one class led to another & another as people showed up & wanted their friends & family to benefit from what they were learning & doing. Over the next 5 years I taught my heart out, wherever there was a need or a want to learn … in living rooms + backyards + Zoom classes to those in other states + retreats for women + businesses.
I became the rank of Gold in my company within one year of teaching my first class.

This business is a simple cycle of learning, applying + teaching on repeat.

You won’t hear me talk about the business side of doTERRA that often. That’s because I started as a customer, & I believe it’s important for all people to start as a customer first before they start teaching others about the oils.

The process really is a simple one, but like all good things, it does require work. But your success is not dependent on anyone else. I repeat: Your success is entirely up to you.
This is freeing. It removes all limitations on you & makes this the most brilliant business model in the world.

If you’re a woman, it’s especially important to work towards financial independence. This gives freedom & safety. Having multiple streams of income for your family is also wise.
This is what draws many to build a doTERRA business.
This business can provide things as simple as covering some of your bills + supporting your family’s health through your monthly order. Other people are excited to dive deeper & make this their full-time job that replaces & surpasses what they were making before they found doTERRA.

So where do you start?

👉 First, purchase your first kit of oils as a Wholesale Customer.

👉 Spend at least 3 months learning about them + applying what you’re learning. This is your first step to becoming an advocate for your health + family.

👉 Sometime after your first 3 months as a Wholesale Customer you would be ready to teach your first set of classes. At that point you would upgrade your account to Wellness Advocate (it’s free) & would teach 1 class a week for 3 months. This is much better than starting by teaching just a class here & there. It creates the momentum you need to maximize your success.

👉 We’ll connect you to the tools + community to support you as you grow … it’s the BEST PART! You’ll have access to everything you need to build your business with confidence.

People are asking questions right now that they might not have asked previous to the year 2020.
