There’s a lot of talk about toxic load & how we need to be more conscious of how to minimize and reduce it … but what exactly is it? Toxic load refers to the accumulation of toxins + chemicals in our bodies that we ingest from a variety of sources, including the environment, the food we eat, the water we drink, & the personal care & household products we use.

These toxins that build up in our system are a huge stressor to your immune system, & your mental state. Signs that you’re toxic include fatigue, muscle aches, joint pain, gas, bloating, & headaches.

I advocate for supporting your body on a daily/weekly basis to cleanse itself efficiently & to reduce the toxic load on your body.

 Lemon:

While lemon juice extracted from the pulp serves up as a nice refreshing summer drink ... it’s quite different than its respective lemon essential oil which is super concentrated, potent & sourced from the rind by cold-pressing. From a scientific perspective, lemon essential oil is much higher in limonene, making it a powerful antioxidant + a cleansing agent beneficial for purging the body of toxins. It also aids in digestion, supports healthy respiratory function & provides immune system support, especially during seasonal changes. Furthermore, unlike lemon juice, lemon essential oil does NOT contain citric acid & does not erode tooth enamel + is easier to ingest for those with sensitive stomachs.

Metabolic Blend:

This blend is called Slim & Sassy & is the metabolic blend. It’s a gorgeous combo of Grapefruit, Lemon, Peppermint, Ginger, & Cinnamon & is designed to help boost your metabolism + manage hunger cravings. And there are no artificial stimulants ... just good ol’ plant magic doing its thing to support a healthy metabolism by cleansing toxins out of fat cells which also leads to weight release.

Lemon + Metabolic blend
 

We have access to the most incredible tools (yep, essential oils!) that can help reduce our toxic load + eliminate synthetics & toxins from our lives.

It’s helpful to understand your body is designed to heal itself when it receives what it needs. Think about it … what happens when you have a cut? … Your body goes right to work to heal it, a scab might form & then fall off & you have new healed skin.

Every organ in your body becomes new within months as cells renew + die, & much of the time we only run into trouble when we aren’t giving the body the proper support to heal.

God created nature with unmatched wisdom & the ability to lend to our body the same harmony it exists in.
I’m excited to introduce you to doTERRA and how it is the key tool we use in our home to live a beautiful + natural life!

Lemon:

Add 2 drops to 20oz of water (stainless or glass bottle). It lightly flavors with a burst of lemon but it’s also very cleansing for the cells due to the high limonene content. This also is a more alkaline way to integrate lemon so it doesn’t damage tooth enamel like lemon juice can. Make it a goal of drinking at least 1/2 your bodyweight in oz of water daily. 

2 - 3 drops in a diffuser helps boost your mood and cleanse the air.

All Purpose Cleaner DIY: To a glass spray bottle, fill with 1/2c vinegar + 1/2c water + 15 drops lemon. Apply a drop of lemon to remove sticker adhesive, gum, oil, grease, or marker. Soak jewelry in a bowl with 3 drops lemon & water. It will sparkle!

Produce Wash: fill a basin with 1 tsp plain castile soap + 3 drops lemon + water. Soak produce for 10 min

1 - 2 drops to baked goods, beverages, or your favorite entrée to create a zesty flavor. I also love baking with it - here’s my blueberry streusel muffin recipe (grain free) and my fave keto lemon blueberry loaf recipe. Add a couple drops to warm water with honey to help soothe irritated throat + boost your immune system.

Seasonal Allergies: add 1 drop lemon along with 1 drop peppermint + lavender to a shot glass of water and chug it back

Safety tip: Because lemon is a citrus oil, be careful not to apply topically to your skin before going out in the sun, as it will make you more sensitive. Alternatively, if you’ll be in the sun, just apply to an area that will be covered by clothing.

 

Metabolic Blend aka Slim & Sassy

My fave routine with this oil is to apply 2 drops to a little lotion or carrier oil & massage into stomach area. It’s energizing + bloat busting.

Add 1-2 drops to each glass of water to boost cleansing, regulate appetite & reduce cravings + bloating.

One really effective way to apply to your skin is after dry skin brushing. Massage into skin by adding a few drops to lotion or carrier oil - focusing on areas where there is stored fat/cellulite.

Add to water or tea & drink before a workout for an energizing effect (or to get through that 3pm afternoon wall).

Add a drop or two to your favorite smoothie.

Massage into stomach area for a cooling + calming effect when you have period cramps or bloating.
