McOmber Family Sweet and Sour Meatballs
This dish is to die for…probably my kid’s most requested dish. This is what they request for birthday dinners. It’s what we take to people’s homes when they have a baby. It goes to potlucks. And everyone ALWAYS wants the recipe. I won’t call it super healthy, because there’s a bunch of sugar in the sauce, but MAN is it delicious! Try it….you’ll see!
SAUCE:
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup BBQ sauce
2 tsp. mustard
MEATBALLS:
1 lb. ground beef
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup oats (I use quick cooking)
1/2 cup onion
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
Mix all meatball ingredients together; roll into 12 meatballs. Place in casserole dish and cover with sauce. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Serve over rice. We typically have this with some broccoli on the side, with melted butter and garlic salt.
