Supportive Essential Oils for When You're Under the Weather

 
 

It's that time of year when the sniffles, aches, colds & germs are flying around. I've got some tips today to help you + your family support your body during the winter season - & all year long 😘!

Top Essentials When You Are
UNDER THE WEATHER

Use the Immune Support Oil Blend:

Combine the following doTERRA essential oils in a 10ml glass roller bottle & then top with fractionated coconut oil:

  • 10 drops Frankincense

  • 10 drops OnGuard

  • 10 Drops Tea Tree

  • 10 drops Lemon

  • 10 drops Oregano

Rub a few swipes on the bottoms of the feet 2x a day.

Drink Bone Broth (aka chicken stock):

Homemade chicken stock contains a wealth of nutrients, helps strengthen the immune system & is also known for its antiviral properties. You can drink a cup or two each day along with some Celtic sea salt (an unrefined salt that contains extra minerals). If you prefer not to drink it from a cup, make a big pot of soup & serve some alongside meals or send some to school with the kids in an insulated thermos.

Take an epsom salt & Lavender bath:

When we're stressed, the first mineral our body burns through is magnesium, & a deficiency in magnesium can cause all sorts of health issues. An easy way to replenish magnesium stores is to take an epsom salt bath. Add 1 cup of Epsom salts & 2 drops of lavender to your bath & soak for 20 minutes. The stress will melt away! :)

Eat healthy saturated fats daily:

Unprocessed, saturated fats are essential for energy, hormone production, a healthy immune system, + many other important functions. These fats include but aren't limited to: organic butter (butter can help strengthen the immune system, suppresses inflammation, & is a great source of iodine), coconut oil (contains antiviral + antimicrobial properties which are great for keeping the immune system strong), & ghee.

Use essential oils to keep healthy blood sugar levels in check:

Unbalanced blood sugar levels can cause inflammation, hormonal issues, & make the body susceptible to getting sick. Put 1-2 drops of MetaPWR essential oil (metabolic blend) in each glass of water you drink. This is great to drink with meals to help keep blood sugar from spiking. It's also great to drink between meals to help curb cravings. There's also a MetaPWR Satiety Gum available if you'd prefer to chew that instead, or even a MetaPWR softgel or beadlets if you just want to swallow it & get the benefits without any flavor.

Reduce sugar intake:

Use essential oils to reduce stress to protect the immune system:

Nothing wrecks havoc on the immune system like stress does! So, use essential oils each day that help you feel more relaxed. Some of my favorites are: Lavender, Balance, Serenity, Adaptiv, Wild Orange, Cedarwood, Vetiver & AromaTouch.

Put 3 drops in the diffuser (choose one or mix & match…whatever you love!)

If you're on the go, add 1 drop of the oil of your choice to your palms, then rub together & cup over your nose & mouth, breathing deeply for about 30 seconds.

Eat probiotics at every meal:

Over 85% of the immune system is in the gut, so it’s important to keep the gut healthy. One way to do this is by consuming probiotic-rich foods. Drink filtered water:

Remember! The center of the immune system lies in the gut, so you need to keep it as healthy as possible to keep your immune system strong. Chlorine is a disinfectant that kills bacteria & is added to most drinking water. It can damage the good bacteria in your gut, making you more susceptible to inflammation, allergies, autoimmune disease, etc.
