Nine years ago, I had a moment that totally sold me on essential oils. I was feeling the first signs of a cold coming on—tightness in my throat, that annoying tickle, and the post-nasal drip that always turns into a sore throat (ugh!). Here's a super simple (and actually fun) DIY blend that packs a punch when it comes to keeping your immune system in check.

Here’s what you’ll need for your immune-supporting roller:

  • 10 drops of Frankincense – This oil is the heavy hitter, folks. It's been used for centuries because it helps support your body’s natural defenses and promotes overall wellness. It's like your immune system's little bodyguard.

  • 10 drops of OnGuard – This is the oil you want in your corner. OnGuard is a blend of oils that have been scientifically proven to help protect against harmful germs. I use it like a shield for my family. It's like giving your immune system a good, tough workout.

Now, grab a 10ml glass roller bottle and add all those oils. Top it off with some fractionated coconut oil (it helps dilute the oils and makes it easier to apply without being too strong). 

How to use: Rub a few swipes of this blend on the bottoms of your feet—yep, the feet! The skin there absorbs oils really well. Do this twice a day, and you’ll be giving your immune system the support it needs to stay strong and healthy.

Drink Bone Broth (aka chicken stock):

Here’s a secret your grandma probably already knew: homemade chicken stock is like a warm hug for your immune system. Seriously, it’s packed with nutrients that help keep your body in tip-top shape. Think of it as nature's multi-vitamin—but much tastier and way easier to digest.

Why’s it so good? Well, homemade chicken stock contains gelatin, which supports your digestive health and helps your body absorb nutrients better. Plus, it's rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, which are essential for keeping your immune system strong. Take an epsom salt & Lavender bath:

Feeling stressed? We all do, and here’s the thing: when we’re stressed out, our bodies burn through magnesium faster than a toddler at a candy store. And magnesium is a key mineral that helps with everything from muscle function to sleep, and yes, even keeping your immune system strong. When you’re low on it, things like cramps, fatigue, and even a weakened immune system can follow.

So how do you replenish those magnesium stores? Epsom salt baths to the rescue! Epsom salts are made of magnesium sulfate, which your skin can absorb to help get your levels back up. But hold up—don’t just grab any scented Epsom salts off the shelf! Here's the deal: most of those “scented” salts are packed with artificial fragrance (yep, the kind we’ve talked about before). They might say “essential oils” on the bag, but they don't say which kind, and I can promise they aren't pure or 3rd party tested. Those “fragrances” are not the good, plant-based oils you want; they’re usually a synthetic blend designed to smell like something, but they don’t have any actual health benefits. In fact, they can actually make things worse by introducing chemicals into your bath. Gross.

Instead, stick with pure, high-quality doTERRA lavender. It’s 100% plant-based, with no synthetic anything. It’s calming, soothing, and—bonus—it’s got immune-boosting properties that will support your body even while you're soaking. Just add 1 cup of Epsom salts and 2 drops of lavender essential oil to your bath, and soak for 20 minutes.
